Gain confidence. Learn new skills. Feel connected. Get creative! All in your own kitchen.
Bet you didn't know that baking can empower tweens/teens. But it can!
On a regular day, being a tween/teen is tricky. There is so much to navigate, like changes to their bodies, powerful emotions, and new ways of thinking. Add to those challenges, they regularly face the impact of social media and the influence of their peers. While thinking of the normal difficulties of being a tween/teen, sadly, we have to add on the sense of isolation, stress, and loss they may be feeling, now that we are two years into a pandemic.
Ugh. That's a lot!
The good news is that there are ways to build teen confidence and teen empowerment for your tween/teen and bring joy into their lives. As parents, you can build strong and connected relationships to guide them through these difficult times.
There are ways to support and build teenage confidence, creativity, and self-reliance. Additionally, you can help them find new outlets to express themselves, problem solve, and explore their interests.

Welcome to Sara Ran Away with the Spoon
Over the years, I've worn many hats!
My educational background is in counseling psychology + parenting education. I have graduate degrees in both. For many years, I was a parenting educator working, with the parents of teenagers.
I started Sara Ran Away with the Spoon as a home-based bakery. My signature items were stuffed cookies with surprise middles, and not-your-grandmother’s bundt cakes. You could find me selling at local farmers markets or creating custom-made gifts/care packages.
In 2017, I switched gears from selling baked goods to teaching baking classes to tweens/teens. One of my core messages is that baking can be empowering, especially for tweens/teens.
It helps them gain confidence, allow for creativity, and build connection, all while learning an important life skill.
