It's July, I get it. Maybe you're feeling a little lazy, or it's too hot in your kitchen to roll out cookie dough without it sticking to the rolling pin and the counter. How about taking all of your favorite flavors of sugar cookies and baking them into a bar? That's what I've decided to do this week for my weekly bake along.
Watch the video and I'll show you how to make the dough. I'll talk you through making the frosting. You'll see I went with my favorite color and made mine my favorite color, pink.
What color frosting will you choose?
Here are the ingredients you will need (recipe adapted from Mel's Kitchen Cafe) BARS: 12 Tablespoons butter, softened 3/4 cup sugar 1/4 confectionary sugar 2 eggs 1 tsp vanilla 1 tsp lemon zest (optional) 2 1/4 cup flour 1 tsp baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt
FROSTING: 6 Tablespoons butter, softened 2 1/2 cups confectionery sugar 3 Tablespoons milk/cream 1 teaspoon vanilla sprinkles (optional)
If you make these bars, post a picture! I'd love to see how they turn out!!
